- Is your service work performed in your own facility?
Yes, all of our repair/calibration has always been performed “in house”. We purchase all repair parts direct from the manufacture helps to keep pricing low.
- How long does it take to repair my tools?
Due to the volume of repairs requested in the current economy our current average turnaround time is 4-5 weeks. Certain exceptions can be made for Rush service if discussed prior to sending in order. Obsolete generations and severely damaged tools may require additional time.
- What is your warranty period for your service work?
Our warranty period is 30 days from date of receipt. We will accept warranty claims for evaluation only when sent back with authorized RMA number which will be generated by our customer service dept.
- Do you provide a quotation for repair prior to proceeding ?
We can provide a complete written quotation prior to proceeding when requested. Please keep in mind our repair services will not exceed 30-40% cost of new or less. We would never repair a tools if it would be considered uneconomical to repair (repair cost exceeds 50% cost of new). Lead time for repair work is reduced when quotations are not requested. We can also provide final costs prior to shipping when requested as opposed to written quotation up front. We reserve the right to charge an evaluation fee for tools which a repair quotation is denied.
- Is a certification included with my repair order?
All service work is verified to manufacturer specification prior to completion with NIST traceable masters. However, we do not provide written certification unless requested. We can provide NIST traceable short form certifications per tool for an additional charge when requested. We can also provide NIST traceable long form certifications when requested with pricing based on our current calibration price list.
- What happens if my tool is found to be uneconomical to repair?
If you tool is found to be uneconomical to repair, we will provide a quotation for exact replacement or best alternative when needed. If we find any value in your tools which cannot be serviced, we may offer to scrap out your tool in our facility for a dollar value you can use towards the cost of the purchase of new tools or repair service.

- What is the scope of work performed during a complete repair?
A complete repair from Ideal Precision includes completely disassembling the tool. Next an ultrasonic cleaning for all parts which are feasible to clean. All gaging surfaces are lapped verified to manufacturer’s specifications. All parts worn beyond usefulness are replaced. The tool is assembled, adjusted, tested and verified to assure it confirms to the original manufacturer specification.
